With an estimated 20 veteran suicides a day, there is a strong need to provide alternative treatments for veterans with physical and mental health challenges. However, the number of trained service dogs is limited due to the costs typically exceeding $28,000 per dog.

MK9s Service Dogs provide highly trained service dogs at no charge to help military veterans with physical or mental disabilities.

The MK9s Service Dog Solution – Costs are kept to a minimum by a dedicated all volunteer force who raise and train the puppies for free.  Costs are therefore limited to purchasing the puppies, feeding and veterinary care during the training period.

Vision Idea Design is hosting this Charity Art Gala as a way to help them offset their costs.

Live music and refreshments will be provided. Business Casual Attire.

Many local artists have donated their artwork, with the proceeds going to MK9s Service Dogs to help pay for the purchase and care of the dogs in training.

Submissions Deadline: Friday, May 3, 2019, 11:59pm

We are inviting artwork submissions for our Charity Art Gala for MK9s Service Dogs at the Fairfax American Legion.

Proceeds from the sale are split with the artist and the charity, with the artist deciding on the percentage donated.

This is a red-dot event, not a silent auction. Exhibiting artists are provided two complimentary tickets to attend the event, which includes cocktails, delicious food, and live music.

We welcome submissions from artists within the Fairfax region.

Smooth Modern Jazz

We love music and we love playing all types of music from Smooth Jazz, Latin, Classic Rock, Neo-Soul, Gospel and Country.

Geno Marriott - In his own words:

The Saxophone is the instrument of my passion which I love to play. This passion for the saxophone started back in Elementary School through High School, College and beyond.  I've always loved the sound of the sax and making people happy with smooth sounds I play.

I play solo as well as with my group Geno & Friends. Either way, we will guarantee you a pleasant sound to your ears to soothe your soul or get you dancing.

No matter the occasion whether it's Gospel music for church events, Smooth Jazz, Neo-soul, even Country and R&B.  We can do it. You will not be disappointed.

Vision Idea Design Charity Art Gala

Vision Idea Design is an all inclusive Graphic Design Firm located in Fairfax City. From logo concept to product packaging, and from trade show banners to exterior signs, and websites. We enjoy helping others achieve their goals and pursuing their vision to success. The Charity Art Gala raises money for non-profit and volunteer organizations.

The time is right. The time is now. Embrace the momentum of giving. In a country that is known for its charitable nature, its undeniable willingness to help those in need, Vision Idea Design fully embraces that legacy. We are choosing to activate our charitable nature.

Our passion revolves around the notion that we will serve those who have served us. We will support those who have ensured our safety, ability to think, grow, create, speak, and develop our ideas, our vision, and our communities.

Through the years, we have advocated and supported community events. In particular, events that impact our service members on active duty, the reserves, the national guard, veterans and military families.

As the owner of Vision Idea Design, my roots are firmly planted in the military
community. I grew up as an Army Brat. My father served first in the Air Force and then entered service through the Army. He retired as a CW3 at Ft. Belvoir in the mid-1980s.

My mother’s roots are firmly planted in military service, as well. She grew up as an Army Brat. My grandfather, John Scott, served honorably through to retirement at Ft. Dix, New Jersey.

My maternal grandmother, Norma-Jean Tharpe-Scott, served as one of the first female Marines. She is an example of the many women who broke through the barriers and started a path for many women to follow.

Even today, I have fond memories of my time growing up with the military and living in places like Ft. Carson, Colorado, Karlsruhe, Germany, and Ft. Eustis (which is an acronym for – and let me apologize in advance, this may not hold today - Even Uncle Sam Thinks It Stinks – sorry…), Alaska. Today it is known as Joint Base Langley-Eustis.

I have several cousins currently serving. Our roots run deep and spread broadly.

Our Charity Art Gala is an opportunity to bring the community together. It is an opportunity to promote local artists while supporting notable charities.

I am committed to developing the Charity Art Gala into an annual event. Our focus will be to support nonprofit organizations in general but with an emphasis on those organizations that provide critical support to veterans, active duty service members, and their families.

Thank you for your support and I look forward to years of partnering with all of you to improve our community.
